Season 2019 we enjoyed great success, Season 2020 challenged and united us, What will Season 2021 bring???

Welcome to the AMPJFC season 2021
It’s my pleasure to welcome all families to the Applecross Mount Pleasant Junior Football Club (AMPJFC) for season 2021!
The Applecross Mount Pleasant Junior Football Club is a boutique family club with a strong history across the Applecross, Mount Pleasant and Ardross areas dating back to 1952. We currently have our Club rooms and home grounds for Auskick (Saturday) and Junior Football(Sunday) at Gairloch Oval in Applecross. Our Youth teams(Years 7-12) play football at Shirley Strickland in Ardross on Saturdays and Sundays. Season 2020 provided many obstacles not seen before in our competition, with the challenge of navigating the uncertain waters of the COVID pandemic and the imposed restrictions. I must say as President of our club I was heartened and very proud to see the committee, coaches, parents and our players rise to the challenges and deal with the obstacles faced to get the reduced season underway. It was fantastic to see everyone roll up their sleeves and bring the season to life. Season 2021 will see the development of our new club rooms at Shirley Strickland to unite our club under the one roof. With a few delays encountered in the process, our proposed move will be at the end of the 2021 season. Details of the design proposed is available atat melvilletalks.com.au/shirley-strickland.
AMPJFC prides itself on being inclusive, welcoming girls and boys and catering for all abilities. In season 2020, we had over 360 registered players with our Club, including nearly 130 Auskickers and 230 juniors. This year the club will be working hard to increase player numbers, in particular at the foundation Auskick level. Our Auskick team lead by our wonderful Auskick Coordinator Danielle Priestly, will continue with the successful new 2.0 Auskick structure implemented from season 2019. Our focus on season 2021 will be to continue to strengthen the number of girls registered with our club. This year we are very excited and proud to be launching our inaugural girls team in the Year 7/8 Girls Competition.
In 2021 AMPJFC will continue its partnership with Clontarf Aboriginal Boarding College in Bentley, providing opportunity for its students to play in our Youth teams. This strong relationship has been forged over the years through the respect our club, members, coaches and players have shown in embracing the Clontarf boys and their culture. Now established as the preferred ‘destination club’ for the Clontarf students, season 2020 Clontarf provided an opportunity for 12 boys, who came from communities throughout WA, to join our Years 9-11 teams and become an important part of our AMPJFC family.
Season 2021 will see our Club with increased numbers in the Junior competition(Years 3-6), fielding 2 teams in Years 3 and Year 5, as well as retain a team in each of the year groups of the Youth competition, including 2 teams in the Year 11/12 age group, after fielding one team in Year 11/12 competition in 2020, the first time since 1995. This of course reflects the growing strength and culture of our Club and the dedication and commitment of our committee, players and coaches.
Our Club has an excellent coaching team and support systems for the development of coaches. With current Coach Coordinator Chris Bates and an ex AFL great, Glen Jakovich (West Coast) leading the way, our future looks bright. In addition, we have an amazing team of volunteers working tirelessly behind the scenes, including the dedicated committee and the many volunteers taking on roles within the teams.
There is a lot of planning and focus on improvements and moving the Club forward for success into the future. A major part of this is the support from our generous sponsors. Our major sponsor with a 3 year deal is Brett Johnston LIFTEQUIPT(2019-2021). We continue our partnership with David Barclay from Benchmark Mouthguards Applecross, offering his support by providing mouthguards for our members with private health funds at $0 gap. We invite opportunities for new sponsorship from businesses and families to partner with us for season 2021 and I encourage members to take every opportunity to support all local businesses sponsoring our club where you can. Sponsorship packages can be viewed on the website. Sponsorship packages
We are committed to ensuring all families feel welcome and a part of our Club. I invite you to volunteer your time, energy and support where possible to the many Club activities throughout the season and I look forward to seeing our members (new and old) at the games or social events, including Sundowners and fundraisers, held during the season. Finally, please register as soon as possible to assist us with our planning and to ensure your child doesn’t miss out in their age group team. Please make sure you join our social mediums, Facebook and Instagram Facebook, Instagram (ampjfc_hawks) and view our regular Blogs (www.ampjfc.com.au) to stay up to date with Club news.
