Congratulations on a great Season 2019, what can we do in 2020??!!
Welcome to the AMPJFC season 2020
It’s my pleasure to welcome all families to the Applecross Mount Pleasant Junior Football Club (AMPJFC) for season 2020!
The Applecross Mount Pleasant Junior Football Club is a boutique family club with a strong history across the Applecross, Mount Pleasant and Ardross areas dating back to 1952. We currently have home grounds for Auskick (Saturday) and Junior Football(Sunday) and our Club rooms at Gairloch Oval in Applecross. Our Youth teams(Years 7-12) football play at Shirley Strickland in Ardross on Saturdays and Sundays. Season 2020 will see the start of development of our new club rooms at Shirley Strickland to unite our club under the one roof. With a few delays already encountered in the process, our proposed move to to align with season 2021 looks more likely to be 2022 . Details of the design proposed is available at melvilletalks.com.au/shirley-strickland.
AMPJFC prides itself on being inclusive, welcoming girls and boys and catering for all abilities. In season 2019, we had over 300 registered players with our Club, including over 100 Auskickers. This year the club will be working hard to increase player numbers, in particular at the foundation Auskick level. Our Auskick team will continue with the successful new 2.0 Auskick structure implemented in season 2019 and focus on season 2020 to strengthen the number of girls registered with our club through a ‘Girls in Footy’ campaign, working towards an all-girls team in the future. Please register as soon as possible to assist us with our planning and to ensure your child doesn’t miss out in their age group team.
We maintain a strong relationship with the Clontarf College in Bentley, which allows the indigenous students to train and play with our teams on the weekend. In season 2019 Clontarf provided an opportunity for 12 boys who come from communities through WA and the NT to join our Years 8-10 teams and become an important part of our AMPJFC family. On the back of a successful 2019 finals campaign in which we had 3 of our 4 Youth teams play in a Grand Final, achieving 2 premierships, season 2020 will see our Club retain our Year 10 team for a combined Year 11/12 competition for the first time since1995. This reflects the increasing strength and culture of our Club and the dedication and commitment of our players.
Our Club has a strong coaching team and support systems for the development of coaches. With current Coaching Coordinator Chris Bates and 2 ex AFL greats in amongst our coaching team, Glen Jakovich (West Coast) and Craig Treleven (Hawthorn), leading the way, our future looks bright. In addition, we have an amazing team of volunteers working tirelessly behind the scenes, including the dedicated committee and the many volunteers taking on roles within the teams.
There is a lot of planning and focus on improvements and moving the Club forward for success into the future. A major part of this is the support from our generous sponsors. Our major sponsor with a 3 year deal is Brett Johnston LIFTEQUIPT. We invite opportunities for new sponsorship from businesses and families to partner with us for season 2020. Sponsorship packages can be viewed on the website. This year we welcome David Barclay, Benchmark Mouthguards for offering his support by providing mouthguards for our members with private health funds at $0 gap and donating $10 back to the Club for each player they fit. I encourage members to take every opportunity to support all local businesses donating generously to our club where you can.
We are committed to ensuring all families feel welcome and enjoy their experience with our Club. We invite you to volunteer your time, energy and support where possible to the many Club activities throughout the season. We look forward to seeing our members at the games or social events, including Sundowners and fundraisers, held during the season. Finally, make sure you join our social mediums, Facebook, Instagram (ampjfc_hawks) and view our regular Blogs (www.ampjfc.com.au) to stay up to date with Club news.
